Thirty kilometres, one motorway, and a very large number of people trying to use it at the same moment. We collect your group from the hotel, drop you at the gate, and wait at a spot you picked that morning. Split across a van it costs less per person than most people expect.
The Catalan Grand Prix is run at the Circuit de BarcelonaCatalunya in Montmelo, around 30 km northeast of the city. The MotoGP weekend keeps its usual shape: practice on Friday, the sprint on Saturday afternoon, the race on Sunday. We plan every MotoGP Catalunya transfer around gate opening and the exit crush rather than around the race start, because those are the two moments that actually cost you time.
Practice Free practice through the day. The quietest roads of the weekend and the easiest morning to arrive.
Sprint Qualifying in the morning, sprint in the afternoon. Traffic builds from late morning and the exit backs up from about 17:00.
Race day The busiest day by a distance. We collect early, drop at the nearest open gate and hold outside the lockdown for the run home.
A MotoGP Catalunya transfer is a door to gate run with a driver who stays for the weekend if that is what you want. We take groups of two up to sixteen, so a Barcelona to Circuit de Catalunya private transfer split between six friends usually works out cheaper per head than a taxi each way, and a lot cheaper than parking plus the walk back to find the car.
There is a train out to Montmelo station and there is a shuttle bus from the city, and on a Friday both are perfectly good. Sunday is a different animal. The R2 fills up, the walk from the station runs about 25 minutes, and the queue for the shuttle after the flag is long enough to watch the highlights twice. A MotoGP Barcelona chauffeur drops you at the gate and collects you from a point you chose yourself.
Same circuit as the F1, same roads, a different crowd. We have run bike weekends here for years and we plan them differently.
A van of eight costs less per person than eight separate taxi fares, and everybody arrives at the same time and leaves together.
We hold at an agreed point outside the car park lockdown, so you walk out and go instead of waiting for the zones to drain.
Our chauffeurs drive the C17 and the AP7 every season and pick between them on the morning, based on what is actually moving.
Tell us where you are staying, how many of you there are, and which gate your tickets are for.
We confirm the vehicle and the price for your MotoGP Catalunya transfer in writing, and nothing changes after that.
The night before, you get the driver's name, mobile number, car details and a pickup time set for race morning rather than a normal Sunday.
Plenty of people fly in on the Friday, go straight to the hotel and head out to the circuit the next morning. We meet you in arrivals, take the bags off you and get you out of the terminal, and the same car can cover the rest of your MotoGP Catalunya transfer weekend if you want it to. A Montmelo transfer direct from El Prat also works if you are landing on race morning, although we would gently suggest not cutting it that fine.
A lot of bike fans fly into Girona or Reus instead of El Prat because the fares are better, and both are a longer run than people assume. Girona is about an hour and a quarter from the city, Reus closer to an hour and a half. Tell us which airport you are landing at when you book, because those two change the plan and the price in a way a short hop from El Prat does not.
People ask how to get to Circuit de Catalunya from Barcelona and the honest answer changes with the day. On Friday, take the train if you like trains. On Sunday, do not. If you want our view on the best way to get to Circuit de Catalunya on race day, it is a car that leaves early, takes whichever motorway is moving, and waits for you on the way out. For teams, sponsors and hospitality guests, our MotoGP Catalunya VIP transport runs several vehicles on one schedule with a single point of contact.
If you are camping at the circuit or staying in Montmelo town itself, most of this stops applying and you can walk. The people who need a car are the ones based in the city, and the further south you are staying the earlier you need to leave. Saturday catches more people out than Sunday does, because the sprint finishes late in the afternoon and everyone leaves at once with no podium ceremony to spread the crowd.
